In the Presbyterian tradition, the role of the congregation is important in choosing leaders. We choose our own pastors, and we elect elders. The elders work with the staff to oversee the total good of the church. At Avondale, we have 12 elders. Following a new leadership model adopted in 2010, three elders are elected annually for a three year term.
