John Bouton Earl, II, Doctor of Ministry, has been minister at Avondale Presbyterian Church since September 1987. Dr. Earl graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College, Phillipi, West Virginia, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. In 1975 he completed his Masters of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey and in 1976, his Masters of Theology from Princeton. From McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois, he was awarded his Doctor of Ministry degree in June 1987. From 1976 until 1987, he served as minister of Pertersburg Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, West Virginia. John is married to Nadja Secik-Earl. They have two children, Mackenzie and John Thomas. While John states that ministry is his first priority, he does enjoy varied interests; reading and rebuilding sports cars are two.
The Reverend Jane Summey Mullennix has been Parish Associate of Family Ministries since 2008. She has been a member of the Presbytery of Charlotte since 1988. She has served as Interim Pastor of MorningStar Presbyterian Church and South Mecklenburg Church, and for 15 years was Associate Pastor at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Most recently, Jane served as chaplain at Sharon Towers. Prior to 1988, Jane served as Associate Pastor at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was ordained by the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee. Jane received her Masters of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jane graduated with M.Div. in 1986 from Vanderbilt University Divinity School..Jane is a native of Spindale, NC. She is married to the Reverend Dale Mullennix. They have two children, Aaron and Amanda. Jane enjoys gardening, needlework, wildflowers and hiking in the mountains.
