Navigating faith with friends and fellowship.
Growing Local, Giving Local: The Garden of Eden and Beyond
Led by Robert Suydam & Cindy McKenzie/704-953-0421
We will explore what it means to be a Christian steward and how we are called to be fed and to feed others. Blending reflection and action, this group will discover what the Bible says about collective stewardship. We’ll also explore our current garden partnerships with Friendship Trays & Sedgefield Middle School students and brainstorm the possibilities of transforming our garden into a community gathering place. We will offer opportunities for:
1) Field trips- perhaps to a farmers market, a Friendship kitchen tour, an urban farm tour, the Dilworth Community Garden
2) Serving and learning beside students from Sedgefield Middle, planting and harvesting for Friendship Trays
3) Speakers- from Green Teacher Network, Sow Much Good, and faith-based non-profits
Day/Frequency: Bi-Weekly through early June.
Time: Mostly likely weekends - Members will choose
Place: Avondale’s Friendship Garden and various field trips
For: Anyone, including families with children
