Avondale volunteers have continued to prepare meals for ACE’s Kids Café on the 3rd Friday of each month. Meals are prepared at Avondale and delivered to ACE kids at ACE’s Southview, Mulberry, and Plaza locations. This month, Avondale volunteers also prepared a nice Easter lunch for Kid’s Café on Maundy Thursday. The menu included BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans and rolls. Each student and staff member received an “Easter Bag” filled with homemade cookies, candy and a couple of trinket/toys to take home.
Avondale is providing scholarships for two ACE students to attend Camp Grier for a week of overnight camp this summer.
ACE Summer Camps
ACE Summer Camps will be held on Avondale’s campus from June 21 through August 5, Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. ACE is seeking Avondale volunteers to share their hobbies or interests with campers, especially in the 6th grade through 12th grade age group (e.g., car repairs, woodworking, art, etc.). Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in sharing your hobby! In addition, a Summer Showcase will be held at Mulberry Baptist Church on August 5 to conclude the summer camps, and ACE will be seeking volunteers to help with setup, serving food, clean-up, etc. More details to follow.
ACE needs volunteers to drive the Avondale bus to transport ACE staff and students between the Southview location and Renaissance West Stem Academy, Monday through Friday from 3 - 4 PM, now through June 8 (even one day per week would help!). Volunteers will need to complete Avondale bus training and the ACE volunteer requirements, including a background check. Please contact email@example.com for more details.
See volunteer opportunities above - share your hobby and Summer Showcase.
Kids Café - Volunteer on Friday, May 20 to help prepare and deliver a warm and well balanced meal to our ACE children. Contact Kay Chelena to sign-up.
