Do You Think Kids Are Interested in Your Job?
As a kid growing up many years ago, I had little notion of the careers I might pursue. I grew up on a farm and knew about that. I loved farming, but the practical realities (investment) made it out-of-reach. I had little knowledge of other careers until later in life.
We want to educate students about what people do in their jobs. So, as part of the ACE summer program, we ask people to take ~30 minutes, come by the church, and talk with students about what you do professionally.
The presentations/discussions need to be short and informal (download guidelines here). Be sure to allow/encourage questions and discussion.
While you may not think people are interested in your profession, you may be surprised. These young people don’t know what they don’t know. It is our responsibility to help fill them in.
If interested, please contact Kay Chelena at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign-up. Thanks in advance for your interest and help.
