Giving to Avondale

Your giving helps ensure Avondale offers meaningful ways to engage faith through worship that awakens us, experiences that help us understand our role in God's world, and service to those beyond our walls. Gifts to Avondale touch many lives.

Pentecost Offering - Special Offering

Pentecost Offering.png

The ACC scholarship program was created in 2021 to better support childcare accessibility to families in the community, and named in honor of Max Shanks in 2022. It currently supports full tuition for 2 children at the center. Donations to the Max Shanks Scholarship will be used to support the current children that attend the Avondale Children's Center through our scholarship program with the hope of increasing the scholarships we have available at the ACC. Through the fund, we have been able to provide children within the scholarship program with support in participating in extracurricular activities, including a dance camp this summer for one student. The funds will also provide these children and their families with necessities for school and home when needed.

We are excited to share this wonderful news with you as a part of the Pentecost Offering. The Pentecost Offering is received by the PCUSA. Forty percent of the offering is to be retained by individual congregations for the purpose of impacting the lives of young people within their own community. The remaining 60% is used to support children-at-risk, youth, and young adults through ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. Psalm 71 testifies that a foundation of faith established during childhood helps ensure lifelong faith and service. The patterns and lessons established during these formative years continue to bear fruit throughout a person's life. Your gift to the Pentecost offering helps the church encourage, develop, and support its young people, and also address the needs of at-risk children. Thank you for your support. It is our hope and prayer that the Max Shanks Scholarship Fund continue to grow, impacting the lives of many children in our community for years to come.

Gifts & Pledges

Consider sharing your support with a reoccurring pledge. A bank draft enables you to repeat your gift on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis. You can stop this at anytime.

More ways to give...

General Fund: This account funds the everyday budget of the church including the areas of worship, mission, outreach, education, personnel, utilities and general maintenance to our property. For recurring payments, setup a Bank Draft.

Memorials and Honorariums: Give in memory of or in honor of a loved one or support ministry. To learn more and to give, see links on this page. (See lavender circle inset.)

Endowment: If you have meaningful memories at Avondale Presbyterian Church, consider supporting the endowment. Gifts to our Always Avondale Endowment support the church in future efforts. A gift carries with it an understanding of what it means to be a faithful steward, an understanding that blessed with a faith community your gift is used to bless others, and an awareness that increased financial costs for church ministry and mission cannot rest solely upon those who are yet to come.

Sacred Garden: Funds received for the Sacred Garden are used in a manner to maintain and improve the garden. The garden continues to be a place of remembrance and a sanctuary for feeding the soul within our city. We invite you to visit, walk the labyrinth, and to leave behind the distractions of daily life and encounter the mystery of God’s love.

Gifts of Stock: We welcome gifts of stocks and securities. We ask members and friends contributing stock to Avondale to please contact our Finance Coordinator, Leah Hackworth, to obtain our account # and DTC # and to notify the Church of the gift. Vanguard, who our account is with, will not tell us who a gift is from.

IRA: Gifts to Avondale from your IRA are possible. Here is general  information; however, please make sure you have the latest updates. Consult your IRA professional and do not hesitate to reach out to our financial staff.

If you own an IRA and are over age 70 ½ you can make a charitable gift, preferably to Avondale Presbyterian Church, by making a “qualified charitable distribution (QDC)” from your IRA........ The charitable distribution is not included in the IRA owner’s gross income and no charitable deduction is allowed....
