PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Our Pastor.
SENIOR PASTOR
Rev. Jim Ewing
Jim Ewing was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. His formal education includes graduating from Appalachian State University and Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA. Prior to seminary, Jim worked in Charlotte with a national bank and with a small commercial real-estate appraisal firm. While serving in his home church with youth, he felt a calling to ministry. Jim felt the importance of Christian witness and what it means to share hope, love, and compassion. Following a time of discernment, he responded to God's call.
After graduating from seminary, Jim moved back to North Carolina where he completed the Chaplaincy program in Laurinburg and then served as Chaplain for St. Andrews Presbyterian College for five years. In 2009, Jim went to Pinehurst, NC to serve at Community Presbyterian Church. Returning to his home town, Jim joined Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte as senior pastor in August 2019.
Avondale was established in 1944. At that time, Park Road was named Avondale Road.
